Superintendent's Welcome Back Message
Reported by email@example.com on 8/16/19
Dear District 204 Community,
Welcome to the 2019-20 school year! We look forward to welcoming your children back to our classrooms on Monday, August 19.
I’ve been visiting schools to see the work completed this summer in preparation for the new year. This summer marks the point where all our elementary classrooms are now air-conditioned. I thank you for your patience during this multi-year project. Now that all classrooms are finished, the next phase will focus on cooling our elementary school libraries.
Also new this year, the state is now allowing school districts to use e-learning days instead of canceling school for an emergency day. We started developing a plan last year that would provide students with meaningful, independent learning activities for days when we might have to close school due to severe weather. We are excited to move forward with the opportunity to have a continuum of instruction that models for students that learning can happen anywhere and anytime. It also provides a definitive end date to the school calendar, as e-learning days do not have to be added to the end of the year. Pending board approval, classroom teachers will begin communicating with students this fall about how they would access assigned work if an e-learning day is called. Parents can learn more about e-learning days during the upcoming curriculum night at your school.
Thank you for your continued support of our teachers and our schools. I hope your family has a wonderful year!
